Louder Than Eleven is proud to present, Chris Schulte climbing in the Ice Caves at Independence Pass in Colorado.  This project was shot last spring and was a blast to work on.  Chris has been establishing amazing lines in the Ice Caves over the past few years and recently established the hardest problem in the cave, The Crucible (V13).  Rich Crowder and Jon Glassberg spent the day with Chris in the cave and had a blast filming in such a wild location.  The floor of the cave consists of 5 feet of flow ice that provides a slippery but secure landing for the problems climbing out of the slot canyon.  For Chris, climbing the Crucible was a race against time, as the ice melts away in the summer and makes the landing very dangerous and extremely muddy.  The surrounding boulder fields are packed full of amazing stone with over a thousand boulders already established and there are first ascents everywhere, just waiting…

The Rock & Ice photo camp was held at Independence Pass this year and 5.10 athletes got to experience the Ice Caves for themselves and there was a great feature article on the area a few months back.  Jordan Shipman worked some graphics magic to bring this creepy feature to life and we love the result.  Hope you enjoy this project and look for more athlete features coming soon!
